While I am in Japan, I enjoy cooking Japanese food. I go grocery shopping at a nearby supermarket with one of these bags. I like both of the vivid designs. I might have introduced them a few years ago, but let me introduce them again. Both are recycled or ‘up-cycled’ bags made by a women’s group in the Philippines. The bigger one is made of fruit juice packages (apple, mango, grape, orange, and pineapple), and the smaller one is made of tomato ketchup packages. ‘Beary’ creative!
In Rome, where I live now, it is getting warmer and warmer day by day. I feel that spring is just around the corner. The other day, I bought several lovely scarves which would go well with my spring clothes. Look at the photo! The pink flowers and small hearts are creating a spring atmosphere.
On 6th February, I participated in a cooking event called “Cooking Challenge,” which was organized by the Rotary Club in Rome. The event was held at a vocational school for hotel management in the outskirts of Rome. When I arrived there, students dressed in uniforms welcomed me at the reception.
Separating garbage has become quite common in many countries. This is also adopted in Rome, where I live now. I take empty plastic bottles to a collection point every weekend, and always think how they will be recycled.
I take piano lessons in Rome. I go to my piano teacher’s studio once a week. As he is a pianist and harpsichordist, he teaches both piano and harpsichord. I am “privileged” to see (and sometimes touch) the harpsichord, though it is only the piano on which I actually take lessons. In his studio, I always feel as if I am in a music museum.
